Top 10 Best-Selling Cars: October 2010

October is typically a slow month for auto sales, but most automakers picked up the pace, and a few had record months, even record years.

Hyundai and Subaru both surpassed their entire 2009 sales total at the end of October. With two months left to go, these brands will have more to brag about.

Major players did well, too, with Ford, GM , Chrysler, Honda, Volkswagen and Nissan all seeing gains. In fact, the only major automaker to see a dip was Toyota, down 0.9% from October 2009. Why? It was mainly due to a sales dip among the Toyota brand and uber-popular models like the Corolla, which was down 25% compared with the same month last year.

Otherwise, our top 10 looks remarkably similar to September’s, with the Honda Civic falling off completely. The Honda CR-V however, moves up three spots on the chart.
