Student reports motorist solicited her for sex

MADISON HEIGHTS -- Police are seeking witnesses as they look for a man they say solicited a girl for sex as she walked to school.
Police said they learned of the incident Friday morning after officials at Page Middle School, 29615 Tawas, called police to report a man had followed and touched a girl, 14, as she walked to school.
"She told her first-hour teacher about it when she arrived at school," said Madison Heights Police Lt. Robert Anderson.
The girl told police she first saw the man about 8 a.m. as she walked along 12 Mile Road when he was near a bus stop on the other side of the road near Park Court.
She told investigators that the man crossed the road and began following her on foot west on 12 Mile Road, police said.
"She turned north on Herbert Street and lost sight of him," Anderson said. "But she said he came out of some bushes on Herbert north of Robert Street and approached her."
The man is described as white, 35 to 40 years old, skinny and wore a dirty beard and a gray hooded sweatshirt with blue jeans.
"She says he solicited her for sex," Anderson said. "When she refused he touched her (buttocks) and the top of her breasts."
The girl told police she pushed the man away and ran to school.
The girl was not physically injured and required no medical treatment, Anderson said.
Police went to the area after the reported incident but were unable to find any witnesses.
